  • Hook up scan tool and found seat belt fault, drivers front. Performed a system check with scan tool and found that the left front seat belt circuit is open. Removed B post trim to test wiring at the seat belt retractor. Power is present but there is no ground indicating an open circuit inside the seat belt (Squid). Need to replace seat belt retractor side. Secure the trim panel.

  • Found front brake pads are measuring 0/32nds and have ground into the brake rotors. Need front pads and rotors. The rear pads are measuring at 2.5mm and should be done very soon to prevent similar grinding of rear brakes.
  • Customer approved new front brake pads and rotors. Recess pistons into the calipers and replace brake fluid. Clean and lubricate caliper slide pins. Road test vehicle to help start the seating process for the friction surfaces.

  • Confirm complaint, turned off engine and out the transmission into gear. Start engine and found that the clutch engages as soon as the pedal is released. Need to replace clutch assembly, disc is worn. Customer approved to remove the transmission to gain access to the clutch assembly. Bolt off the clutch from behind the flexplate. Verified that the clutch disc is thin but the diaphragm forks are damaged from the release bearing riding on the diaphragm. Installed a new clutch assembly, torque clutch bolts to specification. Install transmission assembly back onto the engine and hook up slave cylinder, axle shafts and shift cables. Drain and refiled transmission with new fluid (ATF+4). Start engine and road test, shifts great in all gears. No abnormal noises coming from the transmission while driving. There is at times a slight difficulty getting the shifter to go into first gear. Possible damage to the first gear synchronizer might have occurred during the duration of time that this problem existed.
  • Customer approved to replace the battery due to being old and slightly weak. Also both positive and negative battery post are heavenly corroded and will need to be replaced. Customer also approved to cut and splice in new battery post terminals. Crimp and heat shrink both cables. Applied battery terminal protection
  • Customer approved to replace front brake pads and rotors. Clean and lube caliper guides. Recess pistons back into the calipers and replace brake fluid. Drove vehicle to help seat in new brake surfaces.

  • Confirmed vehicle overheated severely. MAY HAVE INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF OVERHEAT THAT MAY NOT BE IMMEDIATELY APPARENT. Visual check found no coolant in cooling system. Pressure tested cooling system and found leak at the reservoir tank and upper hose. Need new tank and upper hose and re check. Suggest thermostat due to overheat. Customer approved new coolant tank, thermostat and upper hose. Remove shields and covers for access. Refill system with correct type of antifreeze. Idle vehicle and verify that the temperature gauge, thermostat and electric fan are functioning correctly. Road test vehicle and confirm no further overheat condition. Allow vehicle to cool. Final check and top off coolant.
  • Customer approved new thermostat at the same time the expansion tank is being replaced. (some overlapping time) Remove covers and shields for access. Remove existing thermostat and inspect mount surfaces. Using new seals install new thermostat.
  • Remove existing belt, tensioner and idler pulley. Inspect surrounding areas. Install quality replacement parts and torque bolts to factory specifications. Idle vehicle and verify that the belt is tracking center on all pulleys and not making any noises. Road test vehicle.
  • SET TIRE AIR PRESSURES – 32psi. FRONT BRAKES – 75% REAR BRAKES – 40% BATTERY – OK BELTS – Failing (New now) HOSES – Upper leaking (new now) AIR FILTER – Dusty, (Due next service) CABIN FILTER – OK LIGHTS – OK WIPERS – Marginal SHOCKS/STRUTS – OK COOLANT PROTECTION – Serviced
  • Customer approved fluid clean up and inspect for leak. Idled vehicle and performed visual inspection for leaks. Noted oil leak at oil cooler housing seals. (major)
  • Customer approved new cooler seal. Remove oil cooler, clean and inspect surrounding area. (Performed this repair while repairing the cooling system and belt replacement) Install new seal and Idle vehicle and confirm no longer leaking. Road test vehicle. Final check and top off of fluids

Suggest monitoring the leak to gain an understanding of how much or how bad it is leaking over time. MAY need to remove timing chain cover and address leak if it gets worse.
